Are we taking old age depression seriously?
Retirement is meant to be the fantastic new start to a chapter in life, filled with lazy days and promise. No work, no boss, time to be with your partner and enjoy holidays and hobbies together, your time is finally your own.
But for many, these years don't pan out as idyllically as everyone imagines. What if your health deteriorates, you lose your partner, children and grandchildren move away and you 're left alone and lonely.
Many in this age group are suffering with loneliness and depression. Are we using resources in the wrong place? Prevention is better than cure. Should we look at welfare solutions as a way of dealing with this problem?
Are you lonely and would love to find groups and activities to go to?
Have you gone to the doctors for ani-depressives, yet felt you've not been taken seriously?
What are your thoughts?
